AEC Begins

Two weekends after many iRacing competitors stayed up late (like very late, like out of the sim into car to go to work late) for the iRacing Daytona 24Hr the AMF Endurance Championship also kicks off at the Daytona circuit. Those who competed in the iRacing Daytona 24hr will remember if they were in faster class cars, drivers in lower classes not sticking to the race line making passing awkward, those in slower classes will remember the quicker classes dive bombing into the bus stop forcing them to take the grass and those in any class will remember someone with no race craft at all. Well this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated as live control will be watching proceedings to ensure good race pace, strategy and mastering multi-class is rewarded while those failing to maintain a proper standard are granted bonus pitlane transitions.

For this series we’re taking the F out of AMF and allowing open setups, adding another dimension to the strategy game and giving teams the opportunity to work on a set in the lead up to an event or they can use one of our competitive sets, utilize coaching software sets or even use the improved iRacing baseline sets.
The team entry structure is a little bit different to providing driver flexibility allowing teams to have their nominated race cars enter a race. As an example Team Alphabet can enter 3 different cars and have a pool of 10 drivers to drive those cars. This is covered in the series rule book which can be found under the above AEC Menu. There will be minimum driver fair share and no love for drivers who decide to go solo.

This series is multi-class so there is three separate championships on offer, the class are:

  • GT3
    • BMW M4 GT3 – Prototype
    • Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO
    • Mercedes AMG GT3
  • GTE
    • Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTE
    • Ferrari 488 GTE
    • Porsche 911 RSR
  • LMP 2
    • Dallara P217

Enduro racing is not only about pace but about survival, strategy and team work. Compared to solo racing this hurts more when you stuff it and let your team mates down but it is also more satisfying knowing you’ve done your part and put your team mate in a commanding position or capitalised on their efforts. So stop contemplating and sign yourself up and drag a team mate along. If you are struggling to find someone to run with make sure to join our discord channel and put your name down in the looking for drivers thread.
The entry fee is small and covers prizes, race control and the compilation of a highlights package.
